Halfway homes to come up in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad
The Women and Child Welfare Department, in collaboration with the Health Department, will come up with halfway homes in three of the most populated cities in the State – Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad – in a bid to help mental health patients adjust with the mainstream society after they undergo treatment at psychiatry institutes and are fit to leave the hospital premises.
A halfway home, popular in some western countries, is a place that allows people with mental and emotional disabilities to learn social skills necessary to re-integrate into the society.
The facility, officials said, will not only give mental health patients a new lease of life, but also ease the pressure on State -run psychiatry institutes which have become dumping yard of mental health patients who are staying at the institutes even after being treated as their families have refused to accept them.

Ventilation Index Air Pollution Management
Ventilation Index is a measure of the volumetric rate of wind transporting air horizontally Highlights:
It is a measure of the volumetric rate of wind transporting air horizontally in the mixed layer per unit distance in the vertical direction. The unit is in square meters per second or knot feet.
In simple terms, it is an indicator that indicates the efficiency of the dispersion of pollutants in the atmosphere.
The ventilation index is the multiply of wind speed and mixing height.
When the ventilation index value is low and harmful pollutants are close to the ground, air quality risks occur.
When the ventilation index value is low, there is also a visibility risk.
It is a useful tool for air pollution management.
