Jamshedpur gets its first Satellite Mobile Eye Clinic on Van

Jamshedpur Eye Hospital (JEH) kicked-off the New Year 2023 with the inauguration of its first Satellite Mobile Eye Clinic on Van as part of its larger community outreach programme to eliminate avoidable visual impairment among the local Population. JEH will also be starting its new Software-assisted Lazy Eye Therapy, in collaboration of Bynocs Solution, in which selected cases of adult amblyopia, a condition leading to loss or lack of development of clear vision in one or both eyes, to treat by a six-week software assisted Video Gaming Program.

The inauguration of the new programmes and facilities took place at a special event in the JEH complex. The event saw the presence of officials from the hospital, key members of the Rotary Club and officials from Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) and Tata Steel. The new Satellite Mobile Eye Clinic on Van is being launched in collaboration with Rotary Club of Jamshedpur & TSF.

Given the shortage of healthcare professionals especially the specialist-cadre and trained paramedics, JEH plans to establish itself as a TEACHING and Training Eye Centre to produce well-trained, efficient Ophthalmologists and Optometrists to serve the country and this region to reduce prevalence of blindness of India from 1.99% to 0.3%. JEH is already empanelled with Arka Jain University for providing one-year mandatory Internship training to the final year student of BSc. Optometry on a selection basis. The hospital also plans to start the post-graduate fellowship training programme in cataract and other sub-specialties as well as start post-graduate DNB Teaching in Ophthalmology soon.

17th Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2023 announced

17th Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award:27 Indians living overseas have been chosen by the Indian government for thePravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards(PBSA), for outstanding achievements both in India and abroad. The award is the highest honour conferred upon Indians living abroad, including Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) or organisations/institutions established and run by them.
