As part of 75 years of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav launched Prime Minister Skills initiative to empower youth by providing entry level training in industry related skills through Railway Training Institutes. Under the aegis of Development Scheme (PMKVY), Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana was launched in a program organised at Rail Bhawan on September 17.

Chairman and CEO, RAILWAY Board, Sunit Sharma and other senior railway officers were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion Vaishnav said that it is an auspicious day as Vishwakarma Jayanti is being celebrated across the country. He also wished the Prime Minister on his birthday. Vaishnav dedicated the Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana to the Prime Minister as a gift from the Railways on his birthday. The vision of Skill development is an integral part of the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 50,000 youth will be trained under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana. The objective of this initiative is to impart training skills to the youth in various trades to bring about qualitative improvement. He also emphasized that training should be given in remote areas under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana. He stressed that the youth should take advantage of the training process.

Out of 75 training centers of Indian Railways started by the Minister through video conferencing on September 17, three training centers of East Central Railway are also included. Under the Supervisor Training Center, Basic Training Center / Harnaut under Samastipur Division of ECR and Electric Traction Training Center at Gaya Colony, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction under Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Division, youth will be trained under Rail Skill Development Scheme. . On the launch, the Minister was asked by Aniket Kumar Singh, a trainee at Supervisor Training Center/Samastipur, about his interest in his trade. On this occasion, the General Manager of East Central Railway, Anupam Sharma along with senior officials of the Headquarters and Divisions were present at Samastipur.

Under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana, training will be provided to 50,000 candidates over a period of three years. Initially, training will be provided to 1,000 candidates. The training will be provided in four trades i.e. Electrician, Welder, Machinist and Fitter and will consist of 100 hours of introductory basic training. Based on the assessment of regional demands and needs, training programs in other trades will be added by Zonal Railways and Production Units. The training will be provided free of cost and the participants will be selected on the basis of marks in Matriculation from the applications received online following a transparent mechanism. 10th pass and candidates between 18-35 years will be eligible to apply. However, on the basis of this training, the participants of the scheme will not have any claim of getting EMPLOYMENT in the Railways.

AI-Powered Project by Minister for Road Transport

The Union Minister for Road Transport launched iRASTE, an -powered project. The venture goals to help decrease avenue accidents, recognize the Elements accountable for these activities and come up with solutions to mitigate them. iRASTE is acronymed as Intelligent Solutions for Road Safety through Technology and Engineering.

Highlights:

The project was launched on a pilot foundation in Nagpur, Maharashtra with the target of reducing accidents by 50 % in the city.

The task is launched jointly by the Centre, Intel, INAI, IIIT-Hyderabad, CSIR-CRRI (Central Road Research Institute), Mahindra & Mahindra and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).

The important focal point of the undertaking will focus on automobile safety, mobility analysis and road Infrastructure security to go closer to a Vision Zero accident scenario.

The Ministry of Law and Justice has launched a Pan-India Special Campaign called Ek Pahal Drive for Justice Delivery at doorstep.

First Carbon Capture by Tata Steel

Tata Steel has commissioned the first carbon capture plant of India that extracts CO2 at once from the blast furnace gas, at its Works of Jamshedpur. By this achievement, Tata Steel has come to be the countrys first steel corporation to adopt such a carbon seize technology. The CCU (Carbon Capture and Utilization) plant was inaugurated by T.V. Narendran (CEO and MD of Tata Steel) in the presence of employer officers and different dignitaries.

Highlights:

The plant can seize 5 tonnes of CO2 per day (5-tonne per day (TPD)). The agency will reuse the captured CO2 on-site in order to promote a circular carbon economy.

The CCU facility uses amine-based technological know-how and makes the captured carbon available for onsite reuse.

The depleted CO2 gasoline is sent lower back to the fuel Network with multiplied calorific value. This task has been performed with technological aid from Carbon Clean, a global leader in low cost CO2 capture technology.

World Bamboo Day – 18th September

The intention of the WBO is to bring the achievable use of bamboo to greater expanded exposure, to develop new cultivation of bamboo for new industries in regions across the globe, and to promote ordinary uses domestically for neighborhood financial development, etc.

World Water Monitoring Day is on 18th September
