Rs 2.1 crore for Jharkhand to ramp up agri infrastructure
NABARD will sanction Rs 2,100 crore for FY 2021-22 in order to ramp up agricultural infrastructure in Jharkhand and disburse an additional amount of Rs 1,800 crore to the government for other infrastructural development work, NABARD chairman G R Chintala said.
He also stressed on ramping up infrastructure on agriculture marketing in Jharkhand. “There are many projects related to agriculture marketing in Jharkhand that are stalled due to a scarcity of funds. We will re-finance such projects at a meagre rate of 1%,” he said.
He added, “Since the formation of the state, we have sanctioned a cumulative amount of Rs 16,290 crore for 5,110 projects in augmenting rural infrastructure. Apart from funding the farm sector, we are helping in constructing bridges in rural areas for augmenting physical and rural infrastructure through greater allocations through our various corpus funds in the state.
NABARD is also going to provide Rs 1,700 crore to Jharkhand RajyaGramin Bank in the current fiscal year.
INTERNATIONAL
The TRAPPIST-1 star system is home to the largest batch of roughly Earth-size planets ever found outside our solar system. Discovered in 2016 some 40 light-years away, these seven rocky siblings offer a glimpse at the tremendous variety of planetary systems that likely fill the universe.
Its mass is about 9% of the Sun and its radius is slightly larger than the Jupiter. It has a surface temperature of about 2,290 °C and is about 39 light years from the Sun.
In 2016, scientists found three planets orbiting this star using the Transiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope (TRAPPIST) in La Silla Observatory, Chile.
India-Sri Lanka maritime exercise SLINEX begins in Visakhapatnam
THE NINTH edition of the India-Sri Lanka bilateral maritime exercise SLINEX is underway at 
Visakhapatnam with an aim to enhance interoperability and improve mutual understanding between the navies of the two neighbouring countries in the strategically significant Indian Ocean Region.
SLINEX (Sri Lanka–India Naval Exercise) is being conducted in two phases. The first one, the harbour phase at Visakhapatnam on March 7 and 8, followed by the sea phase on March 9 and 10 in the Bay of Bengal.
SLINEX aims to enhance interoperability, improve mutual understanding and also exchange best practices and procedures for multi-faceted maritime operations between both navies.
NATIONAL
India moving towards electric mobility from internal combustion engine: NHEV
A working group from National Highway for EV (NHEV) has met NitiAayog to discuss the new battery swapping policy. NHEV has been pushing for public charging stations across the country. As part of the plan, it was discussed that two of the major express highways will be getting electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers.
A proposal was discussed under which all 30 NHEV charging stations on Jaipur-Delhi and Noida-Agra e-highways are going to have 20 two-wheelers and 20 three-wheelers electric vehicles with battery-swapping technology.
Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP)
Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) is implemented by DeendayalAntyodayaYojana –National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), Ministry of Rural Development, as a sub-scheme since 2016. With an objective to support the rural poor come out of poverty, supporting them setup enterprises and provide support till the enterprises stabilize, SVEP focusses on providing self-employment opportunities with financial assistance and training in business management and soft skills while creating local community cadres for promotion of enterprises.
SVEP addresses three major pillars of rural start-ups namely – finances, incubation and skill ecosystems. Activities under SVEP are strategically designed to promote rural enterprises, one of the key areas is to develop pool of community resource persons – enterprise promotion (CRP-EP) who are local and support entrepreneurs setting-up rural enterprises. Another key area is to promote the block resource center (BRC) in SVEP blocks, to monitor and manage the community resource persons.
HANSA-NG
HANSA-NG is an advanced flying trainer. It is powered by Rotax Digital Control Engine. It has other special features like composite lightweight airframe, glass cockpit, bubble canopy with wide panoramic view, electrically operated flaps, etc.
HANSA-NG is indigenously designed and developed by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research -National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL). It is a two-seater aircraft and a revamped version of the HANSA, which was developed 30 years ago.
