Torpa becomes first block in State to achieve 100 % vaccination

Torpa in Khunti has become the first block in Jharkhand to achieve 100 per cent Covid-19 vaccination coverage. This tribal-dominated block has achieved this feat despite resistance against vaccination from villagers during the initial phase of the immunisation campaign.

However, the sincere hard work of district administration officials coupled with the assistance provided by NGOs helped in creating awareness about the vaccination and fast overcome the apprehensions associated with vaccination among villagers.

There are 95 villages in Torpa. So far 55939 people (population of 18 plus) have been vaccinated for the first dose.

This is 100% of the population eligible for the vaccine; moreover, 70 percent people have taken the second dose too.

There are 116 houses here. About 319 people are eligible (over 18 years of age) to take the vaccine here. Every eligible person in the village has taken the first dose of the vaccine.

World AIDS Day Is Commemorated On December 1

World AIDS Day is observed across the globe on 1st December.

It provides a chance for people worldwide to join in the fight against HIV, aid people with HIV, and remember those we have lost from an AIDS-related illness.

This theme of World AIDS Day 2021 is End inequalities. End AIDS and End Pandemics.

With a singular focus on reaching people left behind, WHO and its partners highlight the increasing disparities in access to essential HIV services.

The day was first marked in 1988 and was also the first-ever international day for global health.

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a recurring disease induced by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

The immune system of the person experiencing the disease gets damaged and reduces the body’s disease-fighting ability.

Troika means a group of three people working together. It is an English word. The Troika of G20 is made of the current, next and immediate past host countries. The Troika ensures continuity and provides presidency support.

The G20 operates without a permanent staff or secretariat. The chair of the group rotates annually among its members. The current chair establishes secretariat temporarily. The Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey recently replied to question in Lok Sabha that the Government of India has amended the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. This was done to protect the interests of the consumers in the country.

The unit sale price of the commodity should compulsorily be displayed on the package. This allows the consumers to make informed decision irrespective of quantity and size of the commodity packed in the package.
